Tuesday night I planned a do-nothing night since I’m usually so over-booked that I never have any relaxation time to myself. I hid out in my apartment and puttered -- answering email and journaling, doing dishes and laundry, and reading Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (I’m trying to read through the Harry Potter books before I’m spoiled any more than I already am). I wasn’t very productive, but the recharge time was very good.
Wednesday was a pleasant, relaxing evening with lildomino. When I got off work, I drove over to her house and let myself in. I checked to see if she was working on her English homework, but no – CraigsList and icanhascheezburger.com, as I expected. We hung out for a while, snuggling and playing on our laptops. We were both hungry so we went out for drive-thru. We brought food back and ate and cuddled up while watching Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. We were tempted to stay up all night, but eventually went to sleep.
Thursday was supposed to be a cleaning night, but I made an interesting discovery – whenever I set aside a night for journaling, I usually get distracted by cleaning and laundry. But as soon as I set aside a night for cleaning, suddenly journaling seems so much more attractive and interesting! Ah, the power of procrastination. I need to set aside more cleaning days so I can get journaling done. lildomino came over to keep me company, but she had to sleep long before I did, so I put her to bed and joined her after I puttered a bit more.
Friday I went over to icespark’s to spend the night since we were getting up early in the morning to go to Bloomington for her super-secret roller-girl tryouts. I hung out with her for a while, but she had to get to bed early to be prepared for the next day. I wound up getting into a four-hour argument on the MUX over TFU policy. By the time I crawled into bed, I only wound up getting about three hours sleep before we both had to get up and head to Bloomington.
The roller derby tryouts were a lot of fun, and I got to see many people I seldom get to because they’ve become lost in the world of roller derby. *grin* Alas, things ran long enough that I didn’t get to attend the first birthday of that_girl_lola and elbanditorojo’s daughter Asmy, but it was worth it since icespark made it onto the team! We went back to icespark’s to grab a quick nap, and then I dragged my sleepy self to Illinois to spend the weekend with cassiopia.
I had an excellent time with cassiopia. I was running late from my nap, so instead of meeting her at her apartment, I went straight to the hotel where her company was having their holiday party. We ate dinner while listening to a Jimmy Buffet tribute band, and then escaped to go attend chuckdawg's much cooler Logan's Run party. The music was great and I got to meet a few more of cassiopia’s friends and prove I really exist!I got be cassiopia’s Guitar Hero Betty before we finally headed back to her place.
Sunday we spent pretty much all day in bed or on the couch, which was just what I needed. When I woke up cassiopia made coffee, and then we cuddled and watched Heroes, Biography with Weird Al, and Edward Scissorhands. We took a break to go get sushi, then went back to cassiopia’s to snuggle in her room and watch Battlestar Gallactica. It was an entire weekend of burrowing and prerecorded geekery, and it was wonderful. I can't wait to make it back out there again.
