Go Tilda Swinton!

Oscar win shines spotlight on actress's "unconventional romantic life"

Oscar winner Tilda Swinton drew a standing ovation as she accepted Best Supporting Actress for her role in the film Michael Clayton.

But her biggest fan was sitting right next to her.

Swinton chose to attend last night's ceremony with the younger of her two lovers, artist Sandro Kopp.

Meanwhile her other man, 68-year-old John Byrne, stayed at home in Scotland.

It was recently revealed that Swinton, Kopp and Byrne - who is the father of her ten-year-old twins, Xavier and Honor - all live in a ménage a trois style arrangement at her home in Nairn, Scotland.

Oh noes! And after right-wing Christians let their kids to watch The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe. *snicker*

I'd always thought she was creepy, but when I found out about this a couple months ago, I like her more now :D

Yeah. The actual coverage was rather heavy-handed and weird. Yay for positive media coverage, boo weirdly sensationalizing it.

"[W]hile her children's father stays home"! Oh, the faux drama!

I almost tagged this 'polyamory' but there's really nothing saying what sort of relationship they have... they could very well just be co-parents and amicable roommates for all the article said.

After seeing her in Constantine, I've kind of had a little bit of a teeny tiny crush on her. Now I know why...

Yay, Tilda! Boo, Daily Mail!
Did you notice the line in the article where she brought up her "unconventional lifestyle" by correcting a journalist's assumption that she was married?

Single? How unconventional!

And then the "biggest fan/other man" thing and her avoidance of public scrutiny by appearing with her son... *grumble grumble*

Very happy for Swinton, "her biggest fan," "her other man," and her beards/children though. :P More power to them and always happy to see people live their lives on their own terms and with grace. I have plenty of trouble with that and it's got to be much harder under the glare of the spotlight.

Re: Yay, Tilda! Boo, Daily Mail!
Yeah, the Daily Mail coverage was pretty painful. I thought the article was interesting, tho, and was right that it might spark some discussion at least. *grin*

Any incremental move towards, "this stuff is normal, move on," would be good. It would be nice if you didn't have to use fake names at work for your GFs, too, while we're at it.

Re: Yay, Tilda! Boo, Daily Mail!
Yeah, further reading on her "coming out" indicated that the Daily Mail is particularly notorious for sensationalism. Its masthead looks so proper and British and newsy that i didn't realize it was the equivalent of the National Enquirer.

And yes, any incremental move is good. Maybe when i'm finally out in the workplace, i'll change your name to Brianna or something. Just to keep my hand in the espionage game. :P

Jeepers! For a second there, I thought Tilda Swenson was sleeping with John Byrne, of Superman and X-men fame. Now that would be an unconventional lifestyle.
